Storm over Monterey BayPosted by Tracy (La Selva Beach, United States) on 28 March 2009 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio. This was taken sometime last year, around October. My son & I went out to Fremont Peak to watch a storm come in. At just about sunset the hills suddenly lit up in the most amazing red-orange color...I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off, trying to compose a shot that I liked, while my son was yelling at me to "Get over here quick and see this!!!" Please visit my website: http://www.tracyhagen-naturalvision.com I may not be able to respond to all comments, but I read and appreciate every one of them. I am currently attending classes at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, in the Photography department. I hope to someday make photography a full time profession. marie from perth, AustraliaHi Tracy, what a lovely shot. Nice how the hill has trees on one side and completely empty on the other side. Great colours, lovely shot. 28 Mar 2009 5:44am @marie: Thank you Marie, Yes, I see what you mean! I have no idea why they are growing that way...I will have to see if I can find out... Lee from Fort Frances Ontario, CanadaYour story rings true. I think we all try to hard to over-compose the shot. We suudenly become very critical and picky. 28 Mar 2009 12:40pm @Lee: Thanks Lee, You are so right...I am always critical of myself & my work- A certain amount of that self criticism is necessary, I think, but at times too much just makes for feeling poorly about one's self. Well, it is a journey & therapy all rolled into one- So,off I go for more adventures. Hope your day is wonderful!! @bluechameleon: Thanks so much :) Don Smith from California, United StatesI know this location Tracy - I used to go to Fremont Peak quite often for images - it is a great location and gives a nice 360 degree panoramic of our area, with picture possibilities in any direction. I like that you settled with this composition and followed Galen Rowell's credo of "shoot towards the light." Well done! 28 Mar 2009 1:54pm Eric Cousineau from Sherwood Park, CanadaBeautifully framed and composed! I love the contrasting colours and textures. Definitely nothing to beat yourself up over!! ;-) 28 Mar 2009 2:27pm Tony Duque from Raleigh, United StatesThis wonderful shot proves that the chicken with its head cut off had plenty of composition savvy left. I doubt you could have captured what you saw any better than you did... it's perfect on every count. Thanks for sharing your good fortune and skill! 28 Mar 2009 2:34pm john4jack from Corvallis, Oregon, United StatesOutstanding storm capture, Tracy. I love shots that always bring back great memories. 28 Mar 2009 3:04pm @john4jack: Glad you like it :) I love to go there & just sit & watch the weather.
